Privacy Policy
This policy explains what Pool & Billiards Self-Trainer ("the app") collects, why, and
what control you have over it. It covers the iOS and Android versions of the app, published
under the bundle identifiers com.municornio.app.PoolAndBilliardsSelfTrainer
(iOS) and com.municornio.app.poolandbilliardsselftrainer (Android).
The app is published by Municornio Ltd. ("we", "us"), 1075 W 14th Ave, Vancouver, BC, Canada. Privacy questions and requests go to unicornio.macau@gmail.com.
The short version
- The app has no accounts and no sign-in. We never ask for your name, email, or phone number.
- Everything you record — drills, exams, matches, notes, your training plan — is stored only on your device. It is never uploaded to us.
- We collect anonymous usage and crash analytics so we can see which parts of the app work and which are broken.
- Free-text you type (session notes, match notes, opponent names, venue names) is never sent off your device by analytics.
- We do not sell your data, we do not share it with advertisers, and the app contains no ads.
- The app offers one optional subscription. Apple and Google take the payment; we never see your card, your billing address, or your name.
What stays on your device
The following is written to a local database on your device and is not transmitted to us:
- Drill records — drill name, date, duration, reps, sets, and any session note.
- Exam records — exam name, date, missed shots, and notes.
- Match records — match name, date, opponent name, location, result, frame scores, notes, and the focus areas you tag.
- Your training plan — length, sessions per week, hours per session, and focus targets.
- Preferences — declared skill level, theme, onboarding progress, count of completed drills, and first-launch date.
This data is readable only by the app. It is included in device backups if you have those enabled through Apple or Google, under their respective terms. Deleting the app deletes this data permanently — we hold no copy and cannot restore it.
A note on opponent and venue names
Match records let you type another person's name and a location. That information stays on your device and is never included in any analytics event. You are responsible for what you choose to record about other people.
What we collect
Usage analytics (Google Firebase Analytics)
We record anonymous events describing how the app is used, so we can tell a feature nobody finds from a feature nobody wants. Events cover:
- Screen views — which screen was opened.
- Onboarding — which step was reached, the skill level chosen, and whether a plan was built.
- Drills — started, finished, and abandoned, with the drill's name, focus, difficulty, reps, sets, duration, and where it was launched from.
- Exams — started and finished, with the exam name, difficulty, and number of missed shots.
- Matches — that a match was recorded, with the result, whether it was a walkover, and the number of frames.
- Training plans and sessions — created, deleted, started, finished, or abandoned, with the plan's shape (weeks, sessions per week, hours, focus areas) and session progress.
- Research survey prompts — shown, tapped, or dismissed, and from which screen.
Alongside these we set a small set of coarse profile attributes: your declared skill level,
whether you have a training plan, your theme setting, and bucketed ranges for
drills completed (0, 1, 2-5, 6-20,
21-50, 50+) and days since install (0, 1-3,
4-7, 8-30, 31-90, 90+). These are
deliberately banded so that individual users cannot be picked out of the data.
What analytics never includes: the contents of any note, opponent name, or
location. Where a note matters to us we record only whether one exists
(true/false), never its text.
Firebase assigns your installation a random identifier and also collects standard technical details such as device model, operating system version, and coarse region. That identifier is not linked to any real-world identity by us. Google processes this data as our service provider; see the Google Privacy Policy and Firebase privacy documentation.
Crash reports (Google Firebase Crashlytics)
When the app crashes, we receive a crash report containing the stack trace, device model, operating system version, and app state at the moment of failure. We use these only to fix defects.
The research survey
The app may invite you to take an optional research survey. Nothing is sent unless you tap through, and we record only that the prompt was shown, tapped, or dismissed. The survey itself is hosted outside the app by a third party and is governed by that provider's own privacy terms. Any answers you give there are subject to those terms, not this policy.
Subscription payments
The app offers a single optional subscription that widens how far back the analysis reaches. Purchases are made and charged entirely through Apple's App Store or Google Play. We receive no payment details — no card number, no billing address, no name — only an anonymous confirmation from the store that this installation is entitled. Apple and Google handle that transaction under their own privacy terms, not this policy.
What we do not do
- No user accounts, logins, or passwords.
- No advertising, ad SDKs, or advertising identifiers.
- No location tracking. The "location" on a match record is text you type yourself; the app never reads device location.
- No access to your contacts, photos, microphone, or camera.
- No selling, renting, or trading of personal information, and no "sharing" for cross-context behavioural advertising as defined under California law.
Legal basis and retention
Where the GDPR applies, we rely on legitimate interest in maintaining and improving the app as the basis for collecting anonymous analytics and crash reports. Analytics data is retained according to the retention window configured in Firebase; crash reports are retained until the underlying defect is resolved. Data on your device is retained until you delete it or uninstall the app.
Your choices and rights
- Delete everything on your device — remove individual records inside the app, or uninstall the app to erase all of it at once.
- Stop analytics collection — the current version has no in-app analytics toggle. Uninstalling the app ends collection. You can also reset or limit the advertising and diagnostics identifiers your platform provides through iOS Settings ▸ Privacy & Security or Android Settings ▸ Privacy.
- Access, correction, deletion, or objection — depending on where you live, you may have the right to request a copy of data we hold, its correction or deletion, or to object to processing. Write to us at the address above. Because analytics data is not linked to your identity, we may need the Firebase installation identifier from your device to locate it, and in some cases we may be unable to identify any data as yours.
- You may lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
Children
The app is not directed at children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age where you live), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
International transfers
Analytics and crash data are processed by Google on servers that may be located outside your country, including in the United States. Google applies the safeguards described in its own privacy documentation to those transfers.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the app changes. Material changes will be reflected in the Last updated date at the top, and significant changes will be announced in the app or in the release notes. Continuing to use the app after an update means you accept the revised policy.
