Bible verses about anxiety

Anxiety is the reason a great many people open a Bible, and it rarely comes with a chapter and verse attached. These seven passages are the collection the app surfaces under Anxiety — on worry about tomorrow, on casting your cares, and on a peace that is described as passing understanding.

Every verse below is quoted from the King James Version. In the app the same collection is available in the English Standard Version too, and tapping any verse opens it in the reader in full context — with the chapter around it, the other translation beside it, and Father AI available to explain anything that does not land.

The 7 verses, with their guided prayers

  • “Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.”
    Philippians 4:6 · KJV

Guided prayer. Heavenly Father, help me to relinquish my anxieties and fears, presenting them to You with gratitude. Grant me Your peace, beyond my understanding, to guard my heart and mind in Christ Jesus. Amen.

  • “Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day the evil thereof.”
    Matthew 6:34 · KJV

Guided prayer. Lord, guide me to focus on today, entrusting tomorrow into Your hands. Help me to navigate today’s challenges with Your wisdom and strength. Amen.

  • “Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.”
    1 Peter 5:7 · KJV

Guided prayer. Dear God, I cast all my worries upon You, knowing You care deeply for me. Help me to feel the weight lifted and to trust in Your providence. Amen.

  • “Cast thy burden upon the LORD, and he shall sustain thee: he shall never suffer the righteous to be moved.”
    Psalms 55:22 · KJV

Guided prayer. God, I lay my burdens down before You, trusting in Your promise to sustain me. Keep me steady and unshaken in my faith. Amen.

  • “Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.”
    John 14:27 · KJV

Guided prayer. Jesus, thank You for Your peace, unlike any the world offers. Calm my troubled heart and banish my fears as I rest in Your peace. Amen.

  • “Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.”
    Proverbs 3:5 · KJV

Guided prayer. Father, I choose to trust in You with all my heart, rejecting my own understanding. Guide my steps and make my path straight, according to Your will. Amen.

  • “Fear thou not; for I with thee: be not dismayed; for I thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.”
    Isaiah 41:10 · KJV

Guided prayer. God, thank You for Your promise to be with me, not to let me be dismayed. Strengthen me, help me, uphold me with Your righteous hand. Amen.

Reading these in context

A verse lifted out of its chapter can be made to say almost anything. Bible Project is built so that a topic list is a way in to the text rather than a substitute for it: tap a verse and you land in the reader at that exact verse, with the surrounding chapter there to be read.

If a sentence is dense or archaic — and the King James Version has plenty of both — you can ask for a plain-language explanation of that verse without leaving the page, then keep asking follow-up questions in the same thread until the answer actually lands. That is Father AI, and it is the one part of the app that needs a connection.

When you are worried and offline

The whole point of carrying both translations on the device is that the moment you need them is rarely the moment you have signal. Reading, keyword search, the topic collections, verse compare and the verse of the day all work with the network off entirely.
